Downtown Biz Spotlight: Punch Bowl Social

Curtis Yee

You may be familiar with the term “triple threat,” but the crew at Punch Bowl Social surpass all expectations as a quintuple threat. Offering a full service kitchen and bar, bowling alley, virtual reality games, karaoke, and arcade… you’ve got no excuse to not have a great time. And, just a stone’s throw away from Golden 1 Center, Punch Bowl Social is both the perfect spot to grab a bite before the show starts, and a drink after it’s over.

Since it opened in 2017, Punch Bowl Social has become one of the office’s favorite spots, so we wanted to let you all in on some of the fun ways that we like to relax after work!

It’s an understatement to say that this place offers something for everyone. Whether it’s food or games or venue, nobody should leave disappointed. Starting with their wide array of dishes, we couldn’t resist over-ordering a bit, especially since Punch Bowl Social’s offerings include dishes for meat lovers and vegetarians alike!

While some may be drawn to the mouthwatering decadence of their OMFG Southern Fried Chicken, a hormone free chicken prepared in a buttermilk brine, battered and fried in organic brown rice flour, and served with a side of tomato jalepeño salad; or The Knockoff Burger, a gluten free burger with two grass-fed patties and all the fixings, others may prefer more health conscious fixings including their Superfood Grain Bowl, which includes a nourishing amount of crispy farro, quinoa, kale, radishes, sprouts, and other vegetables. And for those with a sweet tooth, their selections of (boozy!) milkshakes are sure to shake up your world.

And, of course, the spread wouldn’t be complete without the menu item from which the restaurant gets its namesake, one of their signature punchbowls—which can be ordered to serve up to eight people. While there are 4 staple punches on their menu, we opted for the Watermelon polo bowl, a titillating tango of Sauza Blue Resposado Tequila, Teakoe’s Watermelon Spearmint Tea, watermelon shrub, and their house-made strawberry syrup.

But the food is only half the fun at Punch Bowl Social. We took one of their two virtual reality headsets for a spin, taking turns chopping fruit in Fruit Ninja. Whether you’re looking to settle in for a few rounds of bowling with the family or are looking to defeat some Frost Giants on their Game of Thrones pinball machine, Punch Bowl Social’s offerings are wide enough for you to dive right in.
