Sacramento has a thriving community of creatives. It’s evident by the photographers roaming parking garage roofs, the murals greeting you above every block, and now the film crews in the streets. Sacramento’s creative accolades are only growing. In our next installment of _____ Downtown, we sat down with one of those creatives who has captured the growth of downtown.
Will Thompson grew up exploring downtown where he found interesting angles and unique views worth capturing. He’s now a professional photographer and a leader in the creative community. He harnessed his ability to take great photos and bring people together to create a community group for photographers.
Will started Good Inc in 2014 to bring photographers together to inspire and learn from each other. The photography industry tends to gatekeep, and he wanted to encourage community over competition. Good Inc nurtures the creative community and helps build Sacramento up as a home for artists.

One of Good Inc’s staple events is #GoodTuesdayz, where photographers and models meet at different locations every Tuesday in the summer to shoot together. Everyone is welcome. The organization also has a paid membership for photographers who want to access more exclusive events. In all their events, Good Inc creates great opportunities to meet other photographers, sharpen your camera skills, and get experience shooting with models.
Will says, “I’ve always seen downtown as the creative part of Sacramento.” Downtown is where people can come together and create. Opportunities continue to grow downtown, and a strong community of creatives fuels that growth. What will you create downtown? How will you fill in the blank?
