Vokab Kompany
Hip Hop/Electronica/Soul/Funk
Vokab Kompany is a genre-defying masterpiece of sound comprised of vocalists, with live accompaniments by their four-piece band. They use heavy synths, guitars, bass, drums, and horns to create an innovative sound that blankets audiences. Originally from San Diego, CA, this group pushes the boundaries with their music, and have gained great success – from winning awards in San Diego to having their songs in television commercials.
How has your music evolved over the years?
Our band keeps growing, so the caliber of musicians we use creates change with the music. It makes the music better, and just like any other team, we’re only as good as the ones we depend on.
Other than performing at Concerts in the Park, what do you enjoy doing in downtown?
We have friends and family here, so it’s always great to connect with them!
What food can you not live without on tour?
Fruit and coffee. No more pizza!

Who Cares
Indie Hip Hop/Electronica/Jazz/Soul
Who Cares first met in the year 2000 and have been creating music ever since. This group doesn’t like to label themselves into one genre, but to incorporate aspects of all genres into their music. They have played at Cal Expo and are now adding Concerts in the Park onto their list.
What was the first gig you played?
The first gig that we had was at the Rosemont Capital Christian Center with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Where do you plan on going after performing in downtown Sacramento?
Dive Bar
If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?
If we had to choose just one it would have to be Inked Up!

The Good Samaritans
Live Band Hip Hop/Jam Rock/Funky Folk
In April of 2014 The Good Samaritans released their first album “The Good Samaritans”, and its release marked what would become their signature sound, acoustic guitar picking and riffs with electronic beats. Original sounds from the band are laced with positive vibe lyrics from the emcees, Mr Franchi and Big Sam. They have performed at HeART & SOULstice, Splash Fest, and Zuhgfest, just to name a few! They are winning the hearts of many, which earned them a Sammie this year! (good job guys!)
What’s the origin of your band’s name?
The name of our band came from The Good Samaritan parable in the Bible. This parable is the one that teaches us to help first and ask questions later.
What was the first gig you played?
Our first gig was opening for Element of Soul in Placerville.
What are you looking forward to at Concerts in the Park?
We are looking forward to having a good time. We live an hour away and we attend almost every one of the concerts every year.

The Scratch Outs
Reggae
Sacramento’s very own The Scratch Outs play Jamaican oldies including rocksteady, reggae, lover’s rock, dub, and dancehall. The band started as a studio project in 2010 with the intention of recording and backing local singers for shows. Over time they have evolved into a more traditional style band when more permanent members were added. With a full band, The Scratch Outs really bring out the authentic reggae vibes, like when reggae first became popular.
What’s the origin of your band’s name?
In order to keep their sets exclusive sound system, DJs would scratch out the writing on the labels of their records to keep rivals from being able to identify the songs or artists being played.
What was the first album you ever bought?
Prince – Purple Rain. The day it came out in 1984. (RIP “Purple One”)
What is one fun fact about you and your band?
Our practices consist mainly of us playing everything but our songs! We pretty much play soul, R&B, funk, and disco the whole time.
