Downtown Sac Holiday Ice Rink by the numbers

This year marked the 24th season of Sacramento’s original outdoor ice rink and many #URBANholiday memories were made in the heart of Downtown Sac. The three-month event brought smiles to the faces of many people and also gave them a glimpse into the future of Sacramento as the rink is situated at the doorstep to the Golden 1 Center. DSP Events Manager Sureena Johl breaks down a ‘by the numbers’ look into the timeless holiday tradition of the ice rink:

  • 18 days to build the rink (it doesn’t happen overnight, folks)
  • 72 day season
  • 12 days to tear the ice rink down
  • 6 rain days (El Niño got the best of us)
  • 79 Group Reservations
  • 6 Private Parties
  • 24,968 skaters during the ice rink season
  • 1,126 skaters under the age of 4
  • 30 seasonal staff
  • 9 people built the rink
  • 341 pairs of socks and gloves sold (gotta keep the digits warm)
  • 2,053 lockers rented
  • 1,143 check-ins at the ice rink on Facebook
  • 2 school fundraisers were held at the ice rink

We don’t like to take too much of a break – DSP staff is already planning our 25th season of the holiday ice rink for 2016. Get your brand out in front of the thousands of people who will be attending events at the Golden 1 Center.
