The Best of 2022

Jordan Alwood

It’s almost time– 2023 is right around the corner! This year has been full of so many amazing memories, and some awesome events in #DowntownSac that we thought we’d recap the highlights. Check out some of the fun exciting things that brought us all together this past year.

January: Dine Downtown

Sacramento’s favorite culinary celebration returned in January to the downtown area, bringing tons of local restaurants to the spotlight.

Participants enjoyed a specialty crafted 3-course meal for a fixed price of $45 per person at some of the highest-rated restaurants in the region.

As the Farm-to-Fork Capital, Sacramento has become a foodie destination highlighting the culinary talents of our local chefs. Dine Downtown truly highlights this year after year. This is a unique event that is special to the city of Sacramento, and all the people who live and visit our lovely city.

February: Heart Arch

The “Heart Arch,” was a lovely art piece created by local artist Alyse Porzio of Steadfast Craft. This creation made a limited appearance during the entire month of February a year ago, and quickly became a popular destination for Valentine’s selfies.

This 10-foot-tall structure was made with hundreds of colorful flowers and gave a great photo opportunity to our friends at the Old Sacramento Waterfront.

March: St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March brought lots of luck to the Old Sacramento Waterfront!

Visitors from all over enjoyed a parade, live musical entertainment, outdoor beer gardens, and a chance to find Leprechauns hiding throughout the charming historic district.

April: CIP Lineup Drop

April started off on a musical note with the drop of our 2022 Concerts in the Park lineup.

Fans gathered at DOCO to watch the upcoming performers be announced on the big screen.

This was the first year the CIP logo and design was different than previous years, and was the first time the Downtown Sacramento Partnership had an official launch party for the public to go to!

The excitement was contagious and CIP couldn’t come fast enough.

May: Concerts in the Park

Our summer concert series was a major hit this year!

Performers including Nate Curry, slenderbodies, Cannons, and so many more performed on Friday nights at Cesar Chavez Park.

This free musical event led to so many amazing memories for the community of Downtown Sacramento and brought live music to the community.

June: Capitol Mall Farmers Market

Downtown Sacramento’s Farmers’ Market offers chefs and shoppers locally-sourced fruits, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, herbs, and cheeses. This market offers chefs and shoppers a chance to come face-to-face with their food source, offering the freshest California-grown seasonal favorites from asparagus in the spring to apples in the fall.

July: Bodega Days

Bodega Days at Cesar Chavez Plaza was a fun lunch break for tons of employees in downtown.

People attending got to enjoy a weekly market every Thursday in Downtown Sacramento with farm-fresh produce, freshly baked bread, locally crafted gifts, artist creations, and a variety of food vendors.

August: Last Show of CIP 2022

Our last show of Concerts in the Park came to an end in August.

The season ended with Mod Sun filling out the entire park and bringing our summer to the perfect close.

We are now accepting applicants for CIP 2023! Apply HERE and perform in front of thousands of people in Downtown Sacramento.

September: Sacramento Republic U.S. Open Cup Final

Republic FC faced Orlando City SC of Major League Soccer in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cut Final this last September, and the excitement was high!

Fans gathered at Sacramento’s SAFE Credit Union Convention Center to cheer on their team, enjoy food trucks, and show some love and support to soccer and their community.

October: Movies Under the Stars

With the weather cooling down, Movies Under the Stars made the perfect event for friends and family to get outside and enjoy the spooky season.

Each Thursday night in October, the big screen was set at the Old Sacramento Waterfront, while fans gathered with popcorn and blankets to watch a Halloween movie.

November: Holiday Tree Lighting

Starting the most wonderful time of the year was the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony at the Old Sacramento Waterfront.

The tallest tree yet in Downtown Sacramento was lit up with lights and brought cheer to the city.

After the tree lighting was the first show of Theatre Lights– a free holiday lighting extravaganza for everyone of all ages.

December: Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink

We sharpened our skates and perfected our triple axle just in time for the opening of the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink.

Special events like the Forever Howard Foundation Donation Day and Silent Disco took the rink to a magical time for all skaters.

Friends and family skated through December with ease and got to enjoy the perfect outdoor activity to kick off the holiday season.

Cheers!

Now that we’ve recapped the entire year, we can see that 2022 was full of tons of exciting events and memorable moments for us and the community.

Cheers to 2023!
