Our city has quickly grown into a great place to live and play. During the summer months, this includes some great options for the perfect stay-cation.
What’s a stay-cation, you ask? It’s the new way to relax, unwind, and get that sense of escape without leaving your hometown. It’s the festival vibe of Concerts in the Park (we miss it already!!) and the resort-like peace of Waterfront Yoga. The liveliness and craft of the Farm-to-Fork Festival, and the vibrant atmosphere of the R Street Night Market. As Sacramento grows, so does the city’s events, celebrations, and gatherings that seem to give us that vacation experience in our own backyard.
The Old Sacramento Waterfront has curated its own unique contributions to a local’s stay-cation options, and Sunset Sip is at the top of this list.
Celebrating its second year, Sunset Sip is an evening wine-tasting event for the wine curious and connoisseurs alike. With the waterfront and setting sun as its backdrop, this event invites El Dorado Wines to come down and pour samples of some of their best local bottles.
Sunset Sip is more than just a wine tasting. It’s a gathering that highlights what our local wineries have to offer. Why venture to Napa when award-winning wines are being brought to you?
As the evening quickly approaches, we wanted to highlight three things to look forward to for the evening to come.
1. El Dorado Wine Country
Many of us have yet to discover this new, up-and-coming wine country. Boasting 42 wineries, El Dorado Wines is excited to bring some of their wineries down for an evening of exploring the palate. 20 of their wineries are bringing signature wines to our Waterfront for guests, and they can’t wait to share with you! Wineries will be pouring for VIP at 5:30pm and General Admission at 6:30pm.
2. Food to Pair
What’s a booze-y evening without some light bites?? Most of us will need to make it to work on the Friday after Sunset Sip, so to make sure your stomach stays well balanced while sampling wines from 20 vineyards, we’re excited to provide some eats from some of our favorite local restaurants.
Delta King will be preparing opulent spread of fruits and cheeses, Rio City Cafe is bringing sliders and some Vegetarian friendly items, Fat City Cafe has something off-menu cooking up in their kitchen, and our VIPs have a special secret something waiting for them in the VIP lounge!
3. Entertainment and Extras
For some, all we need is good food and good wine, but what’s an event without live music? We are excited to welcome #CIPSAC alum Simple Creation back to the Old Sacramento Waterfront. Their reggae beats are the perfect soundtrack to an evening of summer sipping.
For VIPs, an exclusive, comfy lounge awaits that is perfect for relaxing and catching some late afternoon sun. This lounge also includes a Bubble Bar featuring wineries’ best sparkling wines and champagnes only available for VIP. With early entry and an upscale eatery included, upgrading to VIP seems pretty worth it!
