State of Downtown 2018 | Downtown is Calling

Jordyn Anderson

The heart of Sacramento has awoken.

Downtown has become an economic and entertainment hub for Northern California.

At the 20th Annual State of Downtown breakfast on January 23, more than 1,000 local leaders convened on Memorial Auditorium to commemorate downtown Sacramento’s recent achievements.

During the event, we celebrated not only last year, another transformative year for downtown Sacramento, but the past two decades which laid the foundation for this new era.

Twenty years ago, downtown was still finding its footing. Many of today’s most prominent projects were only dreams of a handful of determined developers and visionary city leaders.

Today, our skyline is evolving and we’re celebrating momentous achievements including:

  • The inaugural year of Golden 1 Center and the profound impact it has had on downtown Sacramento and beyond.
  • A record-breaking season for our signature events, especially Concerts in the Park, Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink and Theatre of Lights.
  • The welcoming of 25 new retail businesses including our 2016 Calling All Dreamers winner Oblivion Comics & Coffee.

State of Downtown set the stage for what’s to come, and what opportunities we must seize.

If you were unable to attend, read on and see how you can join us in shaping the vision for the next two decades.
