Speakeasy Tours return for summer nights

Kathryn DeGroot

With prohibition long gone and Sacramento’s summer nights heating up, a Saturday night spent with a cocktail and splash of history is the perfect recipe for fun.

Sacramento history buff and Downtown Sacramento Partnership guide, Shawn Peter, will take you on a special excursion where you’ll explore prohibition-era watering holes and learn fascinating tidbits about the people and events that shaped Sacramento’s early history.

The Speakeasy Tour & Pub Crawl begins at the speakeasy-style River City Saloon with three additional stops, including the famed Delta King riverboat, which once served as a ‘floating’ hotspot for illegal drinking, jazz bands, gambling and fine dining. Complete your bootlegging experience with a craft cocktail, which will be available for purchase at each stop.

Tours typically take place on the 3rd Saturday of the month, May through August, rain or shine.

Reserve your spot for the July 16 tour!
