2017 State of Downtown | This is OUR Downtown

Jordyn Anderson

In 2016, Sacramento took ownership of Downtown

We harnessed our collective energy and put downtown’s best foot forward.

During the 19th Annual State of Downtown breakfast on Jan. 25, nearly 1,000 local leaders convened on Memorial Auditorium to celebrate 2016’s achievements, including:

  • The opening of Golden 1 Center, the catalytic project that’s transformed the landscape of downtown.
  • The addition of 22 new businesses and more than a dozen employers to downtown.
  • An incredible 25th season for Concerts in the Park and Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink.

If you weren’t able to attend, read on about our event designed to drive downtown forward.

2017 will be another year of grand openings. The opening of Golden 1 Center was an incredible feat for Sacramento but this is just the beginning and there are many great projects on the horizon. We’re not slowing down.

Sacramento can be more than a business destination. In Mayor Steinberg’s first address at the program, he stressed the importance of making wise and visionary decisions that establish Sacramento as a destination for everyone.

The small things that make a city unique, make a city lovable. Keynote Peter Kageyama explored the mutual love affair between people and their cities and how important it is to prioritize smaller, unique projects and activations.

We must pour energy into the revitalization of the riverfront. The riverfront is our biggest opportunity to create an environment that is as dynamic as our city is becoming, that draws and keeps people downtown.

We can only succeed if we work together. Michael Ault, Executive Director of Downtown Partnership, emphasized it’s more important than ever we continue to work together, focusing on outcomes and pushing to keep downtown moving forward.

THIS IS OUR DOWNTOWN

State of Downtown was an incredible event, more importantly it’s time to take the energy of the day to continue to inspire each of us to build value downtown. This is OUR downtown. Share what you love about #DowntownSac!
