Survival Guide: Sacramento Music Festival

Shea GuntherMaher

The Sacramento Music Festival returns for its 42nd year during Memorial Day Weekend in Old Sacramento, bringing in a whopping 100 musical acts performing on a staggering 20 stages over a 4-day period. With so many tunes to enjoy, we’ve put together a list of must-do activities that will take your festival experience up a notch.

The party starts Friday night, so head downtown for a refreshing pre-concert cocktail at Firestone Public House. Get in the door between 3-6 pm and you’ll score some tasty Happy Hour specials like ½ off pizza and well drinks for $4.50.

If you aren’t too tired from your Friday night festivities, bring your kids (or your friends and their kids) to enjoy a colorful parade along the streets of Old Sac on Saturday. Arrive early so you can enjoy the marching bands, fire trucks, antique cars and military color guards strut down the streets.

Don’t just spectate, participate! Passionate musicians are encouraged to stop by the Evening Jam Sessions on Saturday and Sunday nights for an opportunity to sit-in with professionals, amateurs, and youth musicians who “live to play and play to live.”

Want to experience all four days of the festival? Get an All-Events badge and enjoy concerts for the entire weekend at a bargain price. Click here to get more info and purchase tickets!
