A mid-day trip to the farmers’ markets

Kathryn DeGroot

With the hustle and bustle of a busy workweek, it is important that you take time out of your day to refocus for the second half of your day.

The brilliant minds over at Thrillist know just how important lunch breaks are. Here is there list of 7 reasons why you must take full advantage of your whole lunch hour:

1.     If you don’t eat lunch, your body and brain will crash midday
2.     Eating lunch will help you stay slim, as long as it’s not something like a cheeseburger
3.     Mental breaks (lunch breaks, in particular) are a catalyst for creativity
4.     Getting out of the office can have a smorgasbord of positive effects
5.     A lunch break is good even if it doesn’t include lunch
6.     Don’t skip lunch and just work, work, work

7.     If you can’t get in a full meal, keep snacking on healthy options

What better way to escape the office then to head out to a Downtown Certified Farmers’ Market and enjoy some al fresco dining options with a side of fresh air. Local construction company, Jackson Construction, made the trip down from Campus Commons over by Sac State for their lunch break as part of their efforts to promote health and wellness company wide. The group grabbed some market-fresh pizza from The Pizza Company, tacos from Xochimilco, and sweet stone fruit for snack breaks back at the office.
