In a musical life that spans close to three decades, Chuck Ragan has consistently worn his heart on his sleeve and carved out a musical niche in the process. First, with post-hardcore trailblazers Hot Water Music and subsequently on his own, he’s built a large and singularly powerful body of work whose honesty, immediacy, and warmth have won the loyalty of a fiercely devoted international fan base that has supported him through his various musical incarnations.

Darius Koski

Americana

Darius Koski is an Americana, country, pop, and singer-songwriter coming from a classically trained and punk rock background. He has been in the music industry for thirty years and has spread his talent with other groups such as the Swinging Utters, a well-respected San Francisco street-punk band.  Taking the Concerts in the Park stage as a solo artist, Darius Koski is sure to impress you with his personal lyrics from his album Sisu.Darius_Koski_main_press_photo_HI-RES

How did your band form?

I’d been wanting to get my solo career going for maybe 20 years. I’ve been in a heavily touring punk band that’s released over a dozen records for the last 26 years and have finally gotten my solo stuff out there.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?

If I could pick it would be Ray Davies!

How has your music evolved over the years?

Well, I know that I’ve gotten better as a songwriter, in every way. I think my lyrics are better, and my melodies are more interesting.

Humble Wolf

Rock/Blues/Acoustic

Humble Wolf is returning to the CIP stage, this year. Their indie rock sound, mixed with a dark edge, allows the band to broaden its musical landscape and with two records put out in the last three years, this group is living up to their label as an “up-and-coming star” in the music world.

The Ghost Town Rebellion

Post-Punk/Hardcore

The Ghost Town Rebellion steps onto the CIP stage for the first time this year. This group is quite new, with a unique mix of sounds from rock, blues, swamp rock, punk, all the way to Americana. With a story that needs to be told through their songs, The Ghost Town Rebellion draws musical inspiration from art, history, and life. Their first EP titled Volume 1 was recently released, and they have plans for some new releases at their performance at CIP this year! The Ghost Town Rebellion

How has your music evolved over the years?

Well, we’re a relatively new band, we just released our first EP titled Volume 1 and we are currently working on our third full-length album. Stay tuned – we will be releasing our next single – Double A Side at our performance on May 27.

What is your favorite part of downtown Sacramento?

The people, the weirdness, the history, and the architecture.

What is one fun fact about you and your band?

There is a Shawn and Sean and a Mike and Mikey in the group, with Steven Martin on the drums. We also tell Sacramento’s history through our music. All of our songs are based on real places, people, and events that have to do with Sacramento history!

unspecified

If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?

Lil Jon.

What are you looking forward to at Concerts in the Park?

Being able to perform in front of a different audience than the standard nightclub and bar scene. Those are always my favorite gigs!

Other than performing at Concerts in the Park, what do you enjoy doing in downtown?

I like to go out and eat, mingle, drink, people watch, chill without Netflix. There is so much that downtown offers without a tv.
