Legen-Dairy: It’s National Vanilla Milkshake Day!

Frankie Wenson

We don’t always drink milkshakes but when we do, we stop by Milk House Shakes for the best Presidential milkshakes in town! Owner Kelly Boyles was the winner of the 2017 Calling All Dreamers competition to help bring her dreams of owning her own milkshake shop a reality. The Presidential theme of the store brings together Boyles love of history and the sweet treat to one unique experience that people can enjoy when they head to the Old Sacramento Waterfront. Today is National Vanilla Milkshake Day and what better way to beat the heat then to sip a milkshake on the Waterfront from Milk House Shakes!

When you walk in to pick your milkshake you will notice that each flavor represents a former president. Since we are celebrating the classic vanilla milkshake we are going to order The Thomas Jefferson.

Fun fact: Thomas Jefferson loved vanilla ice cream so much that his very own vanilla ice cream recipe lives in the Library of Congress.

If you want to celebrate the holiday out in about or at home, Boyles gives us the inside scoop on her very own vanilla milkshake recipe that is sure to be legen-dairy!

Kelly’s Vanilla Milkshake Recipe:

  • 8oz vanilla ice cream
  • 3oz whole milk
  • 2 pumps of vanilla syrup

Blend and enjoy!

If you are looking to spice up the classic vanilla flavor try any milkshake on the menu because they are all vanilla based! (Excluding mint and strawberry flavors) Boyles also recommends adding toppings like rainbow sprinkles, Oreos, chopped candy and flavored whip cream to top it off to add something a little extra to the shake as well.

Make sure if you are out and about in #DowntownSac this Thursday or anytime this summer to head over to Milk House Shakes to get yourself a sweet treat or refreshing coffee drink so you can stay cool all summer long!
