Your Guide to Sac Chocolate Week

Calling all chocolate addicts! We’ve got one week of events full of the sweetest things that Old Sacramento has to offer. May 8-14 is Chocolate Week, a time when chocolate lovers of all ages get to visit our lovely Historic District and sample their way through cookies and cocktails, balsamic and berries, and so much more!

Have you ever wanted to dance the Tango? Are you a video game purist who loves the classics? Or an amateur painter looking to test your skills? All these things are available and more – with a side of chocolate included! Scroll through this delicious list of activities during Chocolate Week and get ready to get chocolate wasted. Don’t worry, we signed a contract with calories: they won’t be counting this week!

MONDAY 5/8

Explore during the Chocolate Week Scavenger Hunt – 12-5PM

Stop by the Old Sacramento Visitor’s Center (1002 2nd Street) and grab a map for the Scavenger Hunt! The hunt will guide you through some of Old Sacramento’s most iconic buildings. Make it to the end and snag a sweet prize put together by Steamers Bakery.

Test your knowledge at Choc-La-Trivia – 7-9PM

How well do you really know chocolate? Visit Fat City Café (1001 Front Street) for a chocolate themed trivia night and drinks specials.

Add some spice to your sweet at Chocolate and Tango – 6:30PM

If you have ever dreamed of dancing the Tango, this is your chance to give it a try. This one-hour session at Tango by the River (128 J Street) will teach you the basics of this sexy dance form, side of chocolate included. The second session has already sold out so get your tickets soon!!

 

TUESDAY 5/9

Get your education on at Chocolate Museum Day – 10AM-5PM

The Schoolhouse Museum (1200 J Street) invites you to learn about the early days of education in Sacramento while enjoying some chocolate-y treats.

Game on at Chocolate Arcade Night! – 5-7PM

Enjoy chocolate from Mexico while playing classic arcade games like Pacman for free at the Old Fashioned Candy and Confectionary Store (1113 Front Street)!

Creatives unite Chocolate and Paint Night – 7-9PM

Whether you’re looking for date night, girls night, or just a chill evening on the town, this is the perfect chocolate-themed event for you. Graciano’s Deep Dish Pizza (1023 Front Street) will be your host. Tickets are selling fast!

WEDNESDAY 5/10

Shop at one of our Chocolate Mixers – 5:30-7:00PM

Happy hour is made even happier with shopping, champagne, and chocolate! Join Mea Vita, Moxy Threads, and Visions of Eden for Chocolate Mixers

Dog Champagne is offered at Puppy Hour – 5:30-7:00PM

Literally. Champagne for your dog! Enjoy treats for you and your best friend during Puppy Hour at Dog Gone Licious (1115 Front Street #3) – like Happy Hour, but with pups #YASS

Chocolate + Alcohol = Chocolate Pairing Night – 5-8PM

For $15, you can try the perfect chocolate pairings at Rio City Café (1110 Front Street) or Sactown Sports Bar and Grill (106 J Street). Limited tickets available!


THURSDAY 5/11

Yay for Beignet Day! – All day

Visit Willie’s Burger Joint (110 K Street) and purchase a DELICIOUS meal – then you’ll get a chocolate drizzled beignet on the house.

Choc-tails because #ThirstyThursday – 5 PM to Closing

Some of us love chocolate so much that a pairing isn’t enough. We want our chocolate in EVERYTHING, especially a cocktail. Check out participating bars and restaurants here.

FRIDAY 5/12

Choc-La-Tour: A Choc-o-holic’s Dream! – 4-7PM

Explore the district on Friday evening and sample your way through ten of our favorite chocolate shops and stores. Purchase your ticket, then find us on 2nd and K Street in front of Sports Corner Café on Friday from 3:30-6:30PM to pick it up.

SATURDAY 5/13

Learn the History of Chocolate – 10AM-5PM

The Schoolhouse Museum (1200 Front Street) has more educational fun for the family. Learn about chocolate’s historical relevance, play word games, and more!

How do you make a chocolate turtle? – 10AM-12PM

Join Dennis the Candy Man at Turtles (1017 2nd Street) for a chocolate making demonstration.
