Did You Know?

It’s the year of reimagination! If you know downtown, you would know that each year the Old Sacramento Waterfront loves to host its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. However, this year we are excited to welcome a new, reimagined St. Patrick’s Day celebration that can be enjoyed throughout the district. We invite you to grab your closest pod members and safely explore #DowntownSac with a series of scavenger hunts and lucky specials that will lead you to all sorts of prizes waiting at the end of the rainbow.

Let the Hunt Begin

We wanted to make sure that the whole family could test their luck this St. Patrick’s Day, so we decided to up the ante by offering not just one but two scavenger hunts! First up is our Shamrock Hunt, taking place March 13 – 21, where you will have five whole days to test to see just how much you know about downtown and its shops, restaurants, and places to play while you hunt for hidden shamrock codes and Pots O’ Gold. Download the virtual scavenger hunt here, make your own unique profile, then let the games begin! Use code ShamrockHunt to start playing.

Get your cameras ready to safely explore Downtown Sac! Don’t forget to tag us on social media @DowntownSac + @OldSac while you play so we can share!

*Note: By submitting photos and videos submitted through the app, you give Downtown Sac permission to share on our social channels.

Pro-tip #1: Avoid rush hour and save your hunt for the weekday.

Head on over to the Visitors Center in the Old Sacramento Waterfront to collect our second scavenger hunt activity book, the Leprechaun Hunt! Aimed primarily for the wee ones in our district, this family-friendly book will have you hunting for hidden leprechauns. Could one be in the window of your favorite sweet shop or maybe hiding on the roof of the old Lady Adams Building? You’ll have to find them all using the clues in the activity book in order to fill out the secret phrase at the end for a chance to win. Submit your guesses by March 17 to see if the luck of the Irish was on your side.

Download the activity book here or pick it up at the Visitors Center starting March 12.

Make It a Day!

In addition to your hunt for shamrocks, gold and leprechauns, make sure you take time to stop and savor the tastes of the district. Whether it’s chowing down on a succulent burger from de Vere’s Irish Pub, warming your tummy with an Irish coffee from Finnegan’s Pub, or making new friends at O’Malley’s …we have all the popular Irish haunts that will guarantee a shamrockin’ good time.

You can even catch local artist Amador Sons as you make your way from pub patio to pub patio as they perform on the balcony of the What Cheer House in the Old Sacramento Waterfront on St. Patrick’s Day from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Be sure to stop and show the band your best Irish jig!

Pro-tip #2: Make your day even more special by checking out all the businesses offering Lucy Specials this holiday!

We hope you have a shamrockin’ good time participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Hunt and completing the activity book. Make sure to stop by your favorites at the #OldSacrmaneotWaterfront and #DowntownSac to shop and #SupportLocal. View a list of open shops, restaurants, and hotels here.
