Sacramento Ballet’s The Nutcracker
Through December 23
Community Center Theater

Ron Cunningham’s delightful The Nutcracker is the “crown jewel” of holiday entertainment and a beloved tradition in Sacramento. Clara’s fearless battle with the Mouse King, the soaring Magic Balloon, the sparkling Snowflake Forest, the delicious Kingdom of the Sweets, and the radiant elegance of the Sugar Plum Fairy have been creating cherished family memories for three decades.

Looking to grab a bite before or after the show? P.F. Changs China Bistro is great whether you’re enjoying date night or out with the whole family.

Through December 24
Old Sacramento

Clement Clarke Moore’s classic Christmas poem comes to life on the balconies and facades of Old Sacramento at K Street and Front during the ninth annual free holiday program! The live-action retelling of Moore’s 1823 poem — “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” more popularly known as “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” — promises to be bigger and better than ever and a wonderful way to make new memories.

A delicious hot chocolate from Steamers is the perfect pairing to the holiday show!

Santa Photo Day
December 21
Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink

Celebrate and enjoy the Ice Rink with the kiddos and get a picture with Santa without the mall madness! Presented by Sacramento Regional Transit District, skaters can take pictures on Santa’s sleigh with the man himself then skate the day away.

Ways to get to the rink hassle-free:

  • Utilize Sacramento Regional Transit District light rail
  • Visit SacPark.org to find a parking spot
  • Nearby garage parking includes City Hall Garage (10th & I) and Capitol Garage (10th & L)

After a day of visiting Santa and skating fun, head across the street for some delicious BBQ at Sauced!

If these selections aren’t enough for you then check out our Make it a Night page for more holiday happenings! We also recommend downloading In the Sac App. The app offers the best local farm-to-fork, libations, coffee, murals, and event recommendations (powered by Sacramento365) on the grid.
