Five Ways to Experience #DowntownSac From Home!

Jacqueline Barraza

We know you miss #DowntownSac so while you’re social distancing, we are sharing some ways you can experience downtown from the comfort of your home while safely supporting local. We’re all in this together.

Order takeout from your favorite local restaurants and dine at home

Take a break from home-cooked meals and order from your favorite local restaurant. Check out our Support Today Splurge Tomorrow blog for an updated list of restaurants that are offering take-out, online ordering, delivery and curbside delivery. This is the best time to try something new especially in the comfort of your own home.

Host a Zoom Happy Hour

Just because bars and pubs are closed doesn’t mean you can’t host a Zoom happy hour with some friends, coworker or family members. Order some bottles of wine or create your own cocktail at home by ordering from some of our local restaurants such as Bailarin Cellars, Empress Tavern, Good Bottle and Fizz Champagne and Bubbles Bar to name a few.

Go Mural Hunting

If you are missing the colorful streets of #DowntownSac, you can still experience them right from your couch! Wide Open Walls gives you the option of exploring your favorite murals by searching the name or year a mural was created and they it will show up in their map section for you to see where the mural is located. They even have a “surprise me” option where they will show you a mural at random and who knows, you might find one you have never seen before. Write a list of the locations that you can visit after the quarantine. See a map of #DowntownSac murals here.

Virtual Tours

Although museums are closed for visitors, they’re open for virtual tours. Museums such as the California State Capitol Museum and Anytime Tours (which is offering an Old Sacramento Waterfront Tour) are offering virtual tours for free. Are you ready to get your workout on? If you are looking to get yourself moving throughout the day and #SupportLocal at the same time then make sure to participate in on of All City Riders or Basecamp Climb Studio’s virtual online workout classes to help boost your mood and get your endorphins pumping.

Listen to Sacramento Artists

Postponing Concerts in the Park doesn’t mean you can’t listen to your favorite bands and artists. We’ve curated The Ultimate CIP Playlist featuring throwbacks to bands and artists who played since 2016 just so you can listen to them at home. Make sure when you are tuning in to tag @cipsacramento for a chance to be featured on social media!

Let us know how you’re experiencing Sacramento from home by #SupportingLocal and tagging us at @DowntownSac or @OldSac.
