Farmers’ Market Spotlight: Raja’s Tandoor

Jordyn Anderson

Every city has lunchtime destinations that are guaranteed to satisfy even the most insatiable cravings. Luckily for downtown Sacramento, we’ve got four additional lunch spots that are sure to hit the spot during the summer season.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, save your appetite, grab your totes and head to one of the weekly Certified Downtown Farmers’ Markets for the best hot food vendors and freshest local produce.

This week, we indulged in one of our favorite food vendors, Raja’s Tandoor, and as usual, it did not disappoint. Raja’s is known for dishing up healthy Indian curries in generous portions at a great price.

Here’s how we did it:

With three curries to choose from, why choose? You can get all three – vegan tofu, chick pea and chicken tikka masala – over brown rice with naan for $9 and it’s a deal!

Don’t want all three? No worries, you can order one or two curries over rice with naan at a lower price.

Pro tip: Go for the full experience with the Mango Lite iced drink and a side of potato samosas.

Lunchers be warned, if you’ve got a busy day, don’t worry about finishing it all. Raja’s leftovers are almost as good as fresh and an afternoon nap is a regular side effect of enjoying too much Indian food.

Hungry yet? You can find Raja’s Tandoor here:

  • Tuesdays at Roosevelt Park (10th & P)
  • Wednesdays at Cesar Chavez Plaza (9th & I)
  • Thursdays on Capitol Mall (6th & Capitol)

Stay tuned throughout the season as we feature more vendors from the markets. Have a suggestion? Send us a message on social media!
