ELF delivers sugar-sprinkled fun

Kathryn DeGroot

The holidays arrived a little early this year, as the “sparklejollytwinklejingley” Elf: The Musical brought the magic of Christmas to #DowntownSac. Based on the 2003 movie staring Will Farrell, the stage production of Elf offers a holiday treat that is perfect for the whole family and really puts you in the Christmas mood.

Elf is my go-to Christmas movie and I was overjoyed when I heard the production was coming to Sacramento. The stage version of Elf does a wonderful job blending the nostalgia of the movie, yet adds a fresh adaptation to the production. Elf the Musical does a superb job combining the humor and spirit of the movie into a show that speaks to all ages. While kids fall for the magic of Christmas, adults will be laughing away at the hilarious one-liners.

This sugar-sprinkled musical will definitely force you out of your bah-humbug mood and get you in the holiday spirit. My fiancée and I left the theatre knowing we would hang our stockings with care the next day – the holidays are in full swing folks.

Elf the Musical is the perfect way to start your #URBANholiday this year. Make it a day-long celebration full of holiday memories for you and your little ones by venturing out to the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink before you hit the theatre. Elf will be in town through November 15, get your tickets today!
