Slaves

The Slaves

What’s the origin of your band’s name?

Everyone has something they are slaves to, whether it be sex, drugs, etc. We are all a slave to something. We are slaves to music.

What is your favorite part of Downtown Sacramento?

I love Old Town.

What is your go to spot in Downtown Sac when you perform at CIP?

We like going to a few bars in downtown and old town. When deciding where to go we look for whatever is close, inexpensive and safe for us to get home.

A Lot Like Birds

Unable to perform due to an unforeseen medical emergency

Do you have a record label?

Our latest album, No Place, is our first release with the EVR, an upstate NY-based independent label.

What inspired your latest album?

The theme of our latest album revolves around a single concept – exploring the emotions behind rooms in a home. Being on the road you learn to be more at home than you would ever be in your hometown. So, each song represents a different room and is important to itself but is still a part of the whole.

How would you describe your live performances?

Our powerful performances will leave audiences with a feeling of in-your-face intensity. Sometimes we swing from the rafters, do a mid-set crowd surf toss our guitars in the air – you just never know with us!

Will Haven

Taking the place of A Lot Like Birds

How would you describe your sound?

We are a noise metal band with heavy and extreme sounds.

What is the origin of your bands name?

Will Haven is a noise metal outfit that formed from the ashes of hardcore band Sock. Grady Avenell (vocals) and Jeff Irwin (guitar) had both played in Sock, the latter on drums. After the break-up of Sock, we were joined by Michael Martin (bass) and Wayne Morse (drums), naming our new band after the fictitious character William Haven.

What musical acts have you opened for over the year?

We have successfully completed tours with the Deftones and Limp Bizkit.

What’s the origin of your band’s name?

The name of our band came from the book Tell the Wolves I’m Home written by Carol Brunt.

What was the first gig you played?

The very first gig we played was at Harlow’s Night Club alongside The Denver J Band and Thunder Cover.

Where do you plan on going after attending/performing a concert in Downtown Sacramento?

We plan on enjoying the CIP After Party at Harlow’s and enjoying Low Brau and a few other local hangout spots.

We Went to the Moon

We Went To The Moon

In one sentence, how would you describe your band’s musical sound?
Our musical sound is an emotionally powerful blend of heavy guitars, electronic production, contemplative lyrics, and soaring melodic vocals.

What’s the origin of your bands name?

It stems from a common desire to escape one’s current reality and exist apart from the world. Also, space. We really love outer space.

What was the first album you ever bought?

DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince and Kris Kross (Darin). Wish it was something cooler, but hey.
