4 Ways to Celebrate the Fourth in Downtown

Roxanne Austin

Whether you want to beat the heat or soak up the sun, we’ve rounded up four ways to celebrate our forefathers this fourth of July!

Rooftop Pool Party

Grab your best friends and your favorite swim suit, then head to Revival at the Sawyer this Wednesday for their exclusive edition of Liquid Wednesday! Celebrate with Lady Kate spinning house music, current hits & top 40 remixes by the rooftop pool where you can catch the firework show.

Picnic in the Park

Skip the restaurant lines and ditch the heat of the grill this year! Make your holiday festivities simple by prepping some finger-sandwiches and pasta salad for a picnic in Capitol Park. You can be patriotic and celebrate our country’s birthday from our own State Capitol. Sweeten the deal and walk a few blocks to Andy’s Candy Apothecary and try their new Gelato Push-Pop and Popsicles for a refreshing way to beat the heat.

Cruise + Fireworks

Relax on the river by snagging a spot on the Hornblower Fourth of July cruise. Indulge in music and drinks while floating down the water. Stick around to grab dinner in Old Sacramento on Joe’s Crab Shack‘s patio and see the fireworks over Tower Street Bridge light up the sky and the reflections bounce off the water around you.

Patriotic Bar Crawl

Why only celebrate one day a year? Exercise your freedom to celebrate by kicking off your Fourth of July a day early this time around. Throw on something patriotic and head to Old Sacramento on Tuesday, July 3rd, for the Red White & Brews bar crawl! Two blocks, 14 bars, $3 American beers* with fireworks over the river… What’s more American than that?! (* at participating bars)

Shake up your holiday traditions this year with these events to be out with the old and in with the blue! Red, white and blue that is.
