One of the most Instagram-able places in the city is the historic Old Sacramento Waterfront. It is the perfect place to take professional photos so you better grab your photographer and schedule an appointment! With so many old timey buildings and places to shop, you will get the most unique backgrounds to all of your photos. So, what are you waiting for? Grab an ice cream cone, get your significant other or friend to come with you and have yourself a mini photoshoot along the waterfront!

3. Train Car at the Old Sacramento Waterfront

In 2018, Old Sacramento went under a rebrand to now be called the Old Sacramento Waterfront. To go along with the new logos and colors local artist Jeremy Stanger helped to highlight the rebranding by painting our new logo on a train that you can see for yourself right outside the Sacramento History Museum. It is the perfect spot to show your love for Sacramento by taking your photo in front of it and remembering to tag @oldsac for a chance to get your photo featured on social media!

4. Furry Friends Close Up

If your furry friend has an Instagram page that needs some updating then the Old Sacramento Waterfront is the perfect place to get their close up. Dogs are always welcome at the waterfront and with so many benches and covered places to walk when it gets warm, there are so many possibilities and photo angles when it comes to your pets close up!

5. California State Capitol

LIFE is Beautiful. 7 days ago today, I received an unexpected phone call around 11 am from @knowbody916 for a project that at first I turned down but then had second thoughts. The project was to paint the words “BLACK LIVES MATTER” on the street in front of the capitol building of Downtown Sac. When I received the full details of the project from Shira of the @atrium916 , the first thing that came to mind was how this project may be received the wrong way by the community. It also seemed impossible to complete such a large scale project in such a short amount of time. Nonetheless, the second thought was that although I’ve had countless personal experiences as a black man in America, the entire case of racial injustice was far bigger than just myself or anyone involved in the project. This was my opportunity to speak out in a way that I was sure would be heard and in a peaceful fashion. At 2pm, when I first arrived on location of the soon to be ground mural I realized just how BIG the space was. That is when I put my faith to the test and posted a “call for help” on IG then immediately ran to grab supplies. My dawg @r2romero & @clements.julie were already there at the supply store with hands on deck. We grabbed the supplies and got back to the location to find that a small crowd had already formed. I was honestly surprised anyone had showed up. Long story short, a few hundred people ended up showing up and EVERYONE played a role in the completion of the mural. The most beautiful part of this experience was to see people from all walks of life come together for a common cause/ goal. To see that people who may not share the same experiences are willing to show up and speak on our behalf brought me enough hope to last a lifetime. My truest intention behind saying yes to this project was to simply bring people together via art. We definitely accomplished that mission. I’ve been saying thank you to everyone who showed up, shared the posts, and helped spread the word. Especially to donors and the photographer, @guysonthegrid ,who went out of his way to capture the final result. Y’all are amazing! Stay tuned for what’s next! @the_lost_coast #bamrtheartist

This is my favorite gem on @thekaysacramento, whats yours?

The Crest Theatre is one of the most historic places in #DowntownSac. Since 1912, the theatre has been used for premier films, community events, independent and foreign films, concerts and more! The big colorful lights on the outside of the sign make you feel like you are going to a red carpet premier and it is the perfect place for you to stand in front snd get someone to capture your close up.

*Note: Ask your photographer to get down closer to the ground and tilt the camera up a little bit so you can make sure to get the full sign in your photo!

10. The Kay

The Kay District is always filled with electric energy from a mix of hotels, restaurants, offices and entertainment venues that the city has to offer. Things might be quieter now for the time being, but that means this is your prime spot to snap a quick photo while maintaining physical distancing from others.
