Meet Minneapolis-based artist, educator, author, and co-curator of A Gathering: Works from 'Contemporary Black American Ceramic Artists' Chotsani Elaine Dean for an afternoon of clay process and visual history. First, observe and discuss her work Memory Spoon: minding my garden as they did their garden, on view in A Gathering. Then, head to the studio to gain insight into Chotsani's working process with porcelain paper clay. Experience activating the surface of bisque-fired tiles with oxides and stains and investigate our personal and communal history and memory, a focus that informs Chotsani's creative practice. The class fee includes all supplies and admission to the artist's talk the following day.
