Global Goals Local Leaders Forum: Overcoming Poverty

Note: This event takes place in the Stanford Gallery at the California Railroad Museum.

The United Nations Association, Sacramento Chapter, is proud to present the first of the “Global Goals Local Leaders” event series. Each forum will be dedicated to celebrating the Sustainable Development Goals — and exploring how local leaders are making these goals a reality in the community.

This month, the inaugural forum will focus on Sustainable Development Goal #1: No Poverty.

The panel of policy experts and practitioners will explore the innovative interventions and practices that are being deployed to tackle the causes and consequences of poverty in our own community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to network, ask questions, support the efforts, and learn about the progress that is being made.

Speakers will include:
Patrick Kennedy (Sacramento County Supervisor and longtime county leader on issues related to poverty)
Marianne Bitler (Professor of Economics with the Center for Poverty and Inequality Research at UC Davis – Prof. Bitler's research focuses on the US social safety net and its impacts on poverty, income, human capital, and health).
