Concerts in the Park kicks off 25th anniversary season with amplified concertgoer experience

Sacramento’s longest-running outdoor music festival returns to Downtown with musical frontrunners and fan favorite activities

SACRAMENTO, CA (May 3, 2016) – Star-studded with nationally recognized, local talent and a fresh brand, Concerts in the Park’s 25th season kicks off Friday, May 6, 2016 at Cesar Chavez Plaza with headliner, James Cavern. Additional May headliners include, singer-songwriter, Chuck Ragan, American indie rock band, Geographer, and New York-based reggae band, New Kingston, all of whom are currently touring the United States, and beyond.

“May will set the pace for an awesome 25th season of Concerts in the Park,” said Downtown Sacramento Partnership Events Manager Sureena Johl. “Not only do we have a new look and an epic line up, we’re also working to add more interactive fan experiences within the park like life-size games and live art.”

After each concert the fun revs up at multiple downtown after party locations with various discounts and deals like happy hour pricing and free cover offered to concertgoers wearing a CIP wristband.

Staying true to Sacramento’s love of all things local, this season will feature a rotation of fan favorite vendors and food trucks like Ana Apple, Drewski’s, Der BierGarten, Krush Burger, Vintage YSJ, and Yolanda’s Tamales. Unique this year, each pop-up tent vendor has been asked to add an interactive element like photo booths or games.

Concerts are held weekly on Fridays at Cesar Chavez Plaza from 5-9 p.m., May 6 through July 29 (no show July 1). Parking and transportation options include nearby parking garages such as City Hall Garage, Park Tower Garage and Capitol Garage; RT light rail using routes 30, 62, 86 and 88 (visit sacrt.com for routes and times); free bike valet offered on-site at the SABA Bike Corral, presented by Kaiser Permanente; and, metered street parking.

CIP specials to look forward to this season (dates TBA):

  • Coca Cola tent for concertgoers who want to play inflatable sports games and activities
  • Sac Republic Night where guests are encouraged to don Sac Republic apparel and team reps will hand out swag throughout the show
  • Art Night for local artists to demonstrate their craft and exhibit their work
