David Garibaldi joins July 29 Concerts in the Park lineup

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 25, 2016) – Downtown Sacramento Partnership (DSP) today announced art and music will collide this Friday, July 29 when world-renowned Sacramento-based performance painter David Garibaldi takes the stage at Concerts in the Park in downtown Sacramento. Performing a special act, Garibaldi will paint three pieces, including one piece featuring Sacramento’s most iconic images, live from 6-7 p.m. in Cesar Chavez Plaza.

Garibaldi-[1]“I’m thrilled to be a part of Concerts in the Park, I don’t get many opportunities to perform in front of my hometown crowd,” said David Garibaldi. “Concerts in the Park has become a platform for connecting the Sacramento community with art. It’s the perfect venue for the special show I have planned.”

Garibaldi grew up in South Sacramento, discovering his passion for music-driven art when he was inspired by the original “rock and roll painter” Denny Dent’s portrait of Jimi Hendrix in 2003. Garibaldi has since evolved into an international performance artist with a portfolio that includes performances at two NBA Finals half-time shows, numerous music festivals and concerts, and Fortune 500 companies such as AT&T and Disney.  He has performed alongside artists including Snoop Dogg, Santana, Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro and has built partnerships with brands worldwide including Budweiser, Chanel, Snapple and more. In 2012, Garibaldi made his television debut, making it to the finals of the reality TV talent contest, “America’s Got Talent.”

“Our goal for Concerts in the Park is to connect Sacramento music lovers with the artists they know and love,” said Sureena Johl, Events Manager for Downtown Sacramento Partnership. “David Garibaldi is a household name locally, and beyond, and his performance is yet another testament to the caliber of talent we’ve attracted after 25 successful seasons of Concerts in the Park.”

Concerts in the Park veterans, The Brodys, will headline the evening’s lineup with the band’s 21st Concerts in the Park performance, along with The J Band and Trapacana. Joseph ONE will spin on the Sacramento Republic FC Electronic Stage between performances.

Interviews will be available with Garibaldi on site and live truck parking, backstage access and a designated area to the right of the stage will be available for credentialed media .To coordinate, contact: Jordyn Anderson (707) 779-2287.
